Summary

This article addresses the potential impact of change or deletion of user roles

Question

This article addresses the question of whether or not it is safe to rename or delete a user role in scritura

Answer

This largely depends on the type of role for instance :

Custom Roles

A custom role name change or removal is likely to impact on workflow logic, custom code and custom jsps.  Any issues introduced by such a change will most likely be outside of support’s remit to fix and may require the intervention of professional services

Weblogic Roles

Advise a check with weblogic team about the impact of its removal. From a core Scrittura point of view it also needs to be checked with engineering in case the Scrittura core code references it. If it is referenced in workflow logic, custom code and custom jsps then what is stated above for the removal of custom role definitions would also apply

OOTB Scrittura Roles

The following are standard roles for Scrittura:

■ admins
■ readonly
■ editors
■ publishers
■ reviewers
■ ScritturaUsers
■ signers_a
■ signers_b
■ developers
■ DMadmins
■ DMmanagers
■ DMoperators

This would also need to be checked with engineering regarding removal in case the Scrittura core code references it. If it is referenced in workflow logic, custom code and custom jsps then what is stated above for the removal of custom role definitions would also apply
