Restore of physical tapes fails: Lost position. (Inconsistent/Lost position information.)

Summary

During a restore of physical tape (most probably damaged) one gets media related errors. All objects are marked as failed afterwards.

During a restore from physical tape we get the following error:

    All objects on this medium will be marked as failed.

After the restore fails, all objects on the medium are marked as failed.

Answer

Do set the following variables on the media Agent host:

OB2NOSEEK=1

OB2NOBLOCKSEEK=1


However there is a HW issue with either tape or tape drive, so data integrity has to be checked after the restore,
