(DP) Support Tip: DP SPI prerequisites in a virtual environment - install VEPA module
How does DP SPI works on a VM environment (if your CM is a VM)
It's installed on OM server where it installs OM configuration (policies, tools, groups, etc). OM server is then connected to managed node (Cell Manager) with Operations Agent and DP SPI Agent installed (this is done when you run Add Cell Manager tool). DP SPI Agent then gathers information about the environment, health status, events, etc from DP Cell Manager by reading appropriate files and running DP command line utilities. Everything is executed on Cell Manager. If you are using virtual environment then VEPA module must be installed on Cell Manager so that DP SPI Agent can run vepa_util.exe and query information about the environment.

It fully integrates topology, health, and performance data into the HP Service Navigator, providing the end-to-end operations overview across the entire Data Protector environment and enabling delivery of effective business service management.
The supported Data Protector versions are: 7.xx, 8.xx, and 9.0x.
HP Operations Manager
Data Protector SPI can be installed on the HPOM for Linux 9.xx management server running on support OS - RedHat Enterpise Linux 5.x, 6.x 64-bit.
HP Operations Agent
Data Protector SPI can be deployed from the HPOM management server to the managed nodes with the installed HP Operations Agent of version 11.11.025 and higher running on supported operating systems.
HP Data Protector
Data Protector SPI can be deployed from the HPOM management server to the managed nodes with the installed Data Protector Cell Managers running on supported operating systems.
