Summary

The reconciliation between the local RTSM on the OMi server and the global UCMDB probably lead to the modification of one of the host CIs, the primary_dns_name was changed from short to long name.

Question

In the following situation, all policies on SiteScope may be deleted by reconciliation for CIs.

The Sitescope system has an Operations Agent installed.
For this Sitescope server 2 CIs were created, one probably via Sitescope -> RTSM topology sync, the other via OMi ConnectedServer creation or via ASSD data sync, or by discovery policy).
Customer had a similar situation of a duplicate CIs issue.

By that the 2 CIs became that similar, so they were reconciled. Unfortunately the CI with the policy assignments didn’t survive the reconciliation (the automatic CI-deletion notifier was triggered and OMi MonitoringAutomation therefore deleted the assignments).

The assignment removal problem is setup specific for Sitescope server CIs. As long no duplicate CIs are produced in conjunction with reconciliation, there’s no danger of undesired assignment removal. So the normal OA agents are not concerned by this problem.

Answer

Solution

1.     Open an RTSM Admin UI like IT Universe Manager or CI Type manager and select a view which shows both SiteScope node CIs (e.g. System_Infrastructure)

Select both CIs and select Merge CIs from the context menu.
Then select the CI that has the FQDN as primary domain name as merge target.

2. Set the value of _sishostnameoverride=<FQDN of the SiteScope Server> in SiteScope/Groups/master.config
(or)
Enter the FQDN of the SiteScope server in the Infrastructure Preferences of SiteScope -> Server Settings -> Host name override
