Summary

The communication between the NWBC for HTML and the Web Dynpro server is based on the HTTP/HTTPS protocols and it is possible to be recorded with LoadRunner (VuGen).

Question

SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) for HTML is a new SAP user interface, presenting end users with a seamless integration of classic SAP GUI-based transactions and newly developed applications based on Web Dynpro ABAP. It is a browser-based shell (available only against ABAP systems) for casual use scenarios. Within this environment, all SAP GUI transactions will be rendered using the SAP GUI for HTML rendering engine.

Does Loadrunner support the recording of a SAP Netweaver Business Client for HTML?

Answer

The communication between the NWBC for HTML and the Web Dynpro server is based on the HTTP/HTTPS protocols and it is possible to be recorded with LoadRunner (VuGen).

Due to the secure nature of SAP based applications, however, the resulting script might contain a lot of dynamically generated values i.e. cookies, logon tickets, session ids, cross site scripting (XSS) defense code.

In such cases, a manual correlation of the recorded script might need to be performed along with the use of the XSS and XML data format extensions (DFE).
