HPE DevInspect

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is introducing a new product, HPE DevInspect in December, 2015.

There was previously a HP DevInspect product offered by SPI Dynamics (which was acquired by HP/Fortify).  The older product was announced as obsolete several years ago and is no longer supported. The details can be found at https://softwaresupport.hp.com/web/softwaresupport/document/-/facetsearch/document/KM00908660.

Any obsolescence information related to HP DevInspect remains applicable in its entirety. HP DevInspect customers interested in HPE DevInspect are recommended to contact their HPE channel partner or HPE sales representative to learn more about our new product.

Why did we choose the DevInspect name?

DevInspect name conveys what the product accomplishes: it inspects the code of the developer, real-time, as they write it for immediate results.

How does the new HPE DevInspect differ from the old HP DevInspect product?

They are completely different. The new product does not reuse anything from the original – other than the name.

The SPI Dynamics DevInspect product performed dynamic analysis from WebInspect embedded in the IDE.  It was retired because dynamic analysis embedded in the IDE without the benefit of static analysis or real-time feedback to the developer had limited value.

The new HPE DevInspect provides instant and thorough feedback to developers, within their IDE, primarily using static analysis and other security analysis techniques.
