Micro Focus Codar Direct Integration for Operations Orchestration (CODAR - OO) - Catalog Id: 790

Description

HPE Codar is tightly integrated with HPE Operations Orchestration (HP OO) to create business automations for all aspects of the enterprise and IT cloud environments. Through this integration with OO, Codar provides out-of-the-box integrations to many HPE and third party products, such as HPE Server Automation, HPE Service Manager, VMWare, Chef, and Openstack. More service provider integrations are continually being added to the HPE Live Network CSA Content Catalog for customer download.

These content packs provide basic service designs, service design components, templates, and process definitions to OO workflows to assist customers with creating complex service designs. These service designs and OO workflows create consistent execution of common business operations published to users as service offerings.

The HPE Codar integration to HPE Operations Orchestration (HPE OO) has been structured for simplification. Codar provides an embedded OO platform installed on the same server as Codar as part of the default installation. Although most production environments use separate servers and clusters of servers for Codar and OO, this smaller embedded installation creates a quicker and simpler installation process for teams wanting to test the Codar product or develop content for production. The Codar embedded OO installation is only supported with OO 10.22 release or higher.

Included in the Codar-to-OO integration is support for single sign-on (SSO), which provides seamless movement between Codar, OO, and other SSO-enabled products. This tighter integration with OO makes the process of troubleshooting and operational management much easier for designers and operations engineers as they watch subscriptions and operations execute during the Codar service design lifecycle.

Codar facilitates continuous delivery in which every change to the software system is releasable and every code change can be deployed to production. It enables automation of continuous delivery where every code change triggers a build, which is deployed to an environment based on policies, and is automatically tested as defined in a run-book automation flow. Continuous delivery aims to deliver frequently and get fast feedback from users. Elements of the core value proposition include the following:
  • Declarative Based Modeling
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaaC)
  • Application Pipeline Management
  • Open and Extensible APIs

HPE Codar and HPE CSA have a common code base (base platform), and Codar uses CSA integration packs to support the integrations.

CSA enables you to dynamically monitor and provision the server, storage, and network elements as well as applications, to meet the needs of current and upcoming workloads. CSA integrates and leverages the strengths of a hybrid cloud environment, providing the ability to design and deploy enterprise-ready cloud services tailored to the business needs of your organization. CSA deploys the cloud service offering using a structured lifecycle with pre-defined integration mechanisms for invoking external processes.
