Description

HPE Network Automation (NA) software automates the complete operational life cycle of network devices from provisioning to policy-based change management, compliance, and security administration.

The key benefits of HPE Network Automation include:

  • Reduce costs by automating time-consuming manual compliance and configuration tasks.
  • Pass audit and compliance requirements easily with proactive policy enforcement and audit and compliance reports.
  • Improve network security by recognizing and fixing security vulnerabilities before they impact your network.
  • Increase network stability and uptime by preventing inconsistencies and misconfigurations.
  • Use process-powered automation to deliver application integrations, which deliver full IT life cycle workflow automation.
  • Manage all real-world network related metadata using HPE Network Automation's Resource Identity Management (RIM).
The HP VSR1000 Router Series is a virtualized application that provides functionality similar to a physical router. The VSR1000 series enables significant operational savings as a result of its agility and ease of deployment. Like other virtual applications, the routers run in a virtual machine on an industry-standard x86-based server. Resources on the VSR1000 series can be dynamically allocated and upgraded on demand as performance requirements grow.

Integrating  HPE Cloud Service Automation (CSA) with HPE Network Automation (NA) involves the following steps:

  • The CSA Subscriber specifies the service (Webserver, Application Server, or Database Server) to deploy.
  • The flow internally uses a network name prefixed with a CSL organization name to find a VLAN tag from the corresponding VLAN tag pool.
  • The flow allocates a free tag and sets the network name custom attribute with a user-provided name and then provisions the VLAN.
  • The Resource Identity Management (RIM) Resource ID for the Tag is stored in the service instance record.
  • The IP Address is used to provision the Virtual Machine for the specified service. Additional information such as the subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server are stored as custom attributes of the IP address in the same IP Pool.
  • During the un-provisioning cycle, the flow releases the IP address (RIM resource ID that is available in the service instance record) back to the IP pool.
  • The flow counts the number of allocated elements in the IP Address pool.

If the number of allocated elements is greater than 0, the un-provision flow concludes. If the number is 0, the flow un-provisions the VLAN, deletes the network name from the custom attribute field of the tag and releases the VLAN tag.
