Description
The Micro Focus Business Service Management (BSM) Connector for MS SCOM provides event and topology integration from the Microsoft SCOM environment to BSM. The BSM Connector for MS SCOM provides both out-of-the-box content and the core interface code that will significantly accelerate your BSM integration projects with MS SCOM.
The BSM Connector for SCOM enables you to establish a link between Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and Micro Focus BSM Operations Management.
The Micro Focus BSM Connector for SCOM is an add-on for the HP BSM Integration Adapter, which
enhances the BSM Integration Adapter to provide the following SCOM specific functionality:

- Topology Synchronization: A topology connector extracts topology data from SCOM in a format that the BSM Integration Adapter can then forward to the BSM server. A topology synchronization package on the BSM server determines how the SCOM topology data maps to configuration items (CIs) and relations in the BSM Run-time Service Model.
Topology synchronization includes some specific classes of SCOM objects by default (for
example, Windows operating system objects, Active Directory objects, and SQL Server
objects). If you need to extract other classes of SCOM objects, you can create your own
topology filter to extend or limit the default filter.
A discovery policy starts the topology synchronization according to a schedule, which you can modify to suit your needs.
- Event forwarding: An event connector extracts details of specific alerts from SCOM, and then converts the alerts into XML log files. The BSM Integration Adapter evaluates the alerts using an XML Interceptor policy and sends events to BSM Operations Management.
