Summary

OMW Console fails to open after OMW_00187 with OVscSnSvr License check: getting the license status failed. Error code : 0x800480af. This problem can't be resolved with restarting OMW service. The reason is, as from OMW_00187, the getLicenseStatus() method has 15 seconds to finish. Inside this method it calls gethostbyname(). Here, for the entries with the unresolvable names, the gethostbyname() will time out. Adding them into hosts file make them resolvable now, so problem is resolved.
