Localization Support

The DB SPI is also available in Japanese, with the localized Japanese DB SPI policies containing a J.P. suffix. Policies work as expected. No other change is necessary for the out-of-the-box policies to work.

Any change within the command line must use the Japanese policy name, for the localized version to continue working successfully as explained below.

The J.P. suffix created the need for command line changes: policies that run metric according to a schedule will communicate the metric values back to the threshold policy by name. For example, the DBSPI-Ora-05min_jp policy sends a value to the DBSPI-0001_jp policy. The new command line option -x suffix=J.P. communicates with the collector to attach a suffix of J.P. to the name of the threshold policy.

Note: If you use the DB SPI in a cluster-aware environment, follow the installation instructions in Smart Plug-in for Databases Installation and Configuration Guide. Instructions to create an XML file to adapt the DB SPI to a cluster-aware environment are provided in the guide. Add the J.P. suffix to the XML file name so that the file is recognized as a localizable file.

SPI installers obtain the HPOM for UNIX locale from the cutler v namespace before proceeding with the MS SQL Server SPI 12.06 installation. Verify if the namespace is set using the following command:
# /opt/OV/bin/ovconfget ctrl.env LANG

If the ctrl.env namespace is not set by the HPOM, run the following command on the HPOM Server before starting the MS SQL Server SPI 12.06 installation:
# ovconfchg -ns ctrl.env -set LANG <HPOM locale>. In this instance, <HPOM locale> could be C, ja_JP, ko_KR, or zh_CN.

Example: ovconfchg -ns ctrl.env -set LANG ja_JP

Depending on the <HPOM locale> value, the LANG variable in the ctrl.env namespace are set to C.utf8, ja_JP.utf8, ko_KR.utf8, or zh_CN.utf8.
