Silent installation of LoadRunner fails if performed remotely by a non-interactive user.
The issue happens even when the User Account Control and the Data Execution Prevention are turned off as required by the Installation Guide.

The MSI installation log contains the following error:

MSI (c) (9C:74) [11:34:06:971]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603 

Cause

The issue is caused by MicroSoft Windows patch KB2918614 installed on the machine. The patch requires a non-interactive user to present admin credentials even though the User Account Control is disabled.

Fix

To fix the issue,

  1. Install the following MS update hotfix 3000988
  2. Perform the silent installation again
