OA installation precheck error XPL installed in emulation mode

Summary

[ FAIL ] Check if XPL component is installed in emulation mode. XPl component is installed in emulation mode. Upgrade is not supported. We must upgrade agent to mitigate vulnerability.

Question

OA install 11.13 failed on BSM server with the following error:

[ FAIL ] Check if XPL component is installed in emulation mode.
XPl component is installed in emulation mode. Upgrade is not supported.
We must upgrade agent to mitigate vulnerability.

A previous agent was removed, but some registry keys remained.

Answer

Open add/remove programs and check if there are still OA packages listed, if so use the uinstall button to remove them.

Open the registry (run > regedit) and remove the following entries:

a.    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\HP OpenView
b.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hewlett-Packard (Only on 64 bit machine)

Note: Remember to always backup your registry before making any changes on it.
