Steps containing regular expressions fail during replay of TruClient for IE and TruClient for Firefox protocol scripts in LoadRunner 12

Summary

It is not possible to use regular expressions in TruClient for IE and TruClient for Firefox protocols in LoadRunner 12.00. A hotfix is provided to resolve the issue

Error

When a regular expression is used in a "Verify" step in a TruClient for IE or TruClient for Firefox script, the replay of the step fails. This is specific to LoadRunner 12.00 and is not reproduced in previous versions of LoadRunner.

Cause

This is a regression in LoadRunner 12.00 that is addressed in a subsequent patch.

Fix

Hotfixes have been provided to resolve the issue for both protocols.

Follow the steps below to apply them on all VuGen and Load Generator machines:

For TruClient for IE:

  1. Close all LoadRunner components
  2. Take a backup copy of the file "Utils.js" located at:
    <LR_Install>\dat\WebIE\RRE\content\infra
    (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\dat\WebIE\RRE\content\infra")
  3. Click here to download the hotfix
  4. Unzip and place the hotfix file into the folder:
    <LR_Install>\dat\WebIE\RRE\content\infra
    (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\dat\WebIE\RRE\content\infra")

For TruClient for Firefox:

  1. Close all LoadRunner components
  2. Take a backup copy of the file "TruClientRRE.jar" located at:
    <LR_Install>\dat\LrWeb2MasterProfile\extensions\TruClient@hp.com\content
    (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\dat\LrWeb2MasterProfile\extensions\TruClient@hp.com\content")
  3. Click here to download the hotfix
  4. Unzip and place the hotfix file into the folder:
    <LR_Install>\dat\LrWeb2MasterProfile\extensions\TruClient@hp.com\content
    (e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\LoadRunner\dat\LrWeb2MasterProfile\extensions\TruClient@hp.com\content")
