In April 2003 Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced the version obsolescence for HP OpenView IT/Operations (ITO) version 5.3. On June 15, 2004 HP provided the most up-to-date ITO v5.3 end-of-support information. All customers with valid ITO v5.3 support contracts have upgrade coverage that provides for a one-for-one replacement of existing licenses with the most recent version.

The releases following ITO v5.3 were known as VantagePoint/UNIX (VPO/UNIX) and HP OpenView Operations for UNIX (OVO/UNIX).
