Error: "Cannot open session. An error occurred while converting this session from an older Analysis" in LoadRunner Analysis 11.51 or above

Summary

An error that occurs while converting previous analysis data is described and a workaround is provided to bypass the conversion.

Error

When an old Analysis session (an .lra file) is opened in LoadRunner Analysis 11.51, LoadRunner Analysis 11.52 and 11.52 Patch 1:

  1. Analysis displays a confirmation dialog if the user wants the session to be converted to a new version.

  2. After clicking on “OK” button Analysis shows the error message “Cannot open session. An error occurred while converting this session from an older Analysis" is displayed:

Cause

An error occurs when Analysis 11.51, 11.52 or 11.52 Patch 1 attempts to convert an Analysis session, which was created with an older version of LoadRunner.

Fix

As a workaround, conversion can be bypassed by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Analysis session folder
  2. Locate the file with an .lra extension, and open it in a text editor like Notepad.
  3. Find "VerNo" and change its value to 13
    VerNo=13
  4. Save this change.
  5. Try to open the session file in the Analysis.
    The data should now be viewable in Analysis.
