Pre-installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast, are documented in the installation guide provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. The document file is included on the product's installation media as: Mcast_install_guide_en.pdf.
Before installing the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast, verify that your system meets the following requirements:
Below are the two tiers of managed network environments and the hardware required for the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast. Managed environment with size bigger than the large tier is not supported without additional hardware resources and HP approval.
The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast hardware requirements mentioned in the below table are in addition with NNMi hardware requirements mentioned in the NNMi Support Matrix, 9.20.
Before installing the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast, make sure that the physical RAM must be twice that of the combined Max Java Heap size (Xmx) value for the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast and NNMi.

1Active Flows - Number of unique multicast groups across all the Multicast-enabled nodes in the network.
2Minimum of 2.5GHz for x64 and 1.4GHz for IPF or SPARC.
3<NnmInstallDir> is configured during installation. On Windows it is set to (C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP BTO Software\ by default), and on UNIX it is (/opt/OV/).
4<NnmDataDir> is configured during installation on Windows (C:\ProgramData\HP\HP BTO Software\ by default), or on UNIX /var/opt/OV/.
5This is the additional disk space required for the IP Multicast reports. For more information about NPS and iSPI Performance for Metrics, see NPS and iSPI Performance for Metrics Support Matrix. If you intend to run any of the other NNM iSPIs, review each iSPI support matrix before determining the hardware you need. Each of the NNMi iSPIs may require additional hardware beyond what NNMi and NNM iSPI for IP Multicast require. If you are running additional applications, increase the resources appropriately.
To change the jboss Maximum Java Heap Size (‑Xmx) or other Java Virtual Machine parameters, follow these steps:
The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast hardware requirements mentioned in the below table are in addition with NNMi hardware requirements mentioned in the NNMi Support Matrix, 9.20. Make sure that the physical RAM must be twice that of the combined Max Java Heap size (Xmx) value for the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast and NNMi.

The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast can store its data in an embedded PostgreSQL database or in an external Oracle database. You must choose the same database type as NNMi while installing the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast.
Note: You cannot change the database type after the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast installation.
The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast can run on certain high availability systems with additional configuration. For more information, see NNMi and NNM iSPI for IP Multicast Deployment Reference. The following configurations are supported on NNM iSPI for IP Multicast Supported Operating Systems:
Note: Minimum supported version is 6.0, with Microsoft recommended patches.
Recommended version is 6.1 with Microsoft recommended patches.
The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast is internationalized and can be used on operating systems configured for non-US-English locales that are supported by the operating systems. Those locales include variants of Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Western and Central European locales, and Russian.
On Windows systems, the NNM iSPI for IP Multicast does not support installation using the directory paths with localized characters; path names for <NnmInstallDir> and <NnmDataDir> can contain English characters only.
The NNM iSPI for IP Multicast, 9.20 is available only for English and not localized to other languages.
