New Features
- Public Key Infrastructure-based Authentication:
You can configure the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony to use the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication. With PKI authentication, you can access the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony forms without providing the logon credentials. Note that you must also configure NNMi to use PKI authentication before you configure the iSPI to use the PKI authentication.
- The NNM iSPI for IP Telephony Quick Start Wizard:
After the installation of the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony 9.21, you can run the Quick Start Configuration Wizard to configure NNM iSPI for IP Telephony to manage your network environment. HP recommends that you use the Quick Start Configuration Wizard for the initial configuration setup.
To access the quick start wizard, type the following URL in your browser:
http://<fqdn>:<port>/iptquickstart/wizard
In this instance, <fqdn> is the fully qualified domain name of the NNMi management server and <port> is the HTTP port number used by the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony. The default port number is 10080.
By default, the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony Quick Start Wizard is configured to use the credential-based authentication. However, you can configure the Quick Start Wizard to
use the PKI-based authentication. For more information, see the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony Quick Start Wizard section in the HP Network Node Manager iSPI for IP Telephony Software Online Help.
- Discovery:
The NNM iSPI for IP Telephony has been enhanced to discover the publisher Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM) whose CallManager service is deactivated or stopped. This is possible if you configure the AXL credentials of the publisher CUCM in the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony Data Access Configuration form.
9.20 (Patch 1)
New Features
NNM iSPI for IP Telephony 9.20 (Patch 1) contains the following new features and feature enhancements:
- Updating the site codes, mail codes, and locations of Cisco IP phones from the command line.
- Added a new report, namely Top N Table Report. Like the Top N report, this report shows Top N network elements, but does not include bar charts or time series graphs. If you want to view Top N elements in the least possible time, choose the Top N Table report instead of the Top N report.

Before you install NNM iSPI for IP Telephony 9.21, you must perform the following tasks:
- Install NNMi 9.22.
- Install NNM iSPI Performance for Metrics 9.21.
Installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing NNM iSPI for IP Telephony 9.21 release are documented in the patch text file, which is available in the text format with the downloadable patch.
- While working with the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony views, the following error appears:
A problem occurred while loading the data from the NNMi management server for this component. Additional error information: Service Unavailable
Workaround. If the iSPI and NNMi are configured with a remote Oracle database, this error occurs when you restart the Oracle server. To resolve this, restart the iSPI for IP Telephony by stopping and starting the iptjboss process.
- Cisco IP Telephony. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer and if the Automatic prompting for file downloads setting is disabled, the ClarusIPC Remote Hands window does not appear from the Cisco IP Phones view.
Workaround. In the Internet Explorer browser, click Tools > Internet Options, select the Security tab, click Custom Level, and then enable the Automatic prompting for file downloads setting in the Security Settings dialog box.
- Cisco IP Telephony. If you try to remove the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony from the NNMi management server without disabling the integration with ClarusIPC, the clarus directory and associated files might remain on the management server after completely removing the iSPI.
Workaround. After uninstalling the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony, manually delete the clarus directory and its contents from the /opt/OV/config/ipt
directory.
- Nortel IP Telephony. This version of the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony does not calculate the state of the Nortel Media Gateways (MC and MGC) based on IP telephony alarms.
