This document provides an overview of the changes made to hp OpenView Smart Plug-in for Microsoft Enterprise Servers (MSES SPI)
for the B.04.00 release. It contains important information not included in the online help.
This version of the MSES SPI manages the following Microsoft Enterprise Servers and versions of servers:
Follow the steps 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 outlined below.
Step 1
To avoid overwriting custom policies:
- Save any modified/customized policies into a location
on the management server (away from the SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers
folder), or rename the SPI for Enterprise Servers policy group.
Do the same for the install log file if you need to retain the previous
version.
Step 2
Remove all SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers policies
from the managed nodes:
- In the console expand the folder Policy
Management.
- Right-click SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers and select All tasks > Uninstall from...
- In the Uninstall policies on... window, check the nodes from which the policies should be removed.
- Click OK.
Step 3 (only for Scenarios 1, 2 & 3, not applicable for upgrading from OVOW
7.10)
Uninstall MSES SPI programs from the OVO management
server:
- Insert the Application CD 1 into the CD-ROM drive.
- Follow instructions as they appear, and start the
uninstall procedure by pressing the Remove products button.
- In the Product Selection Uninstall
window select Microsoft Enterprise Servers (SPI) and click
Next.
- In the next window select Remove, you are updated on the progress of the program removal, then click Finish to complete.
Step 4 (only for Scenario 4, not applicable for other scenarios)
- Remove all SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers policies
from the managed nodes.
- Insert the 7.10 HP OpenView Operations/Performance for Windows CD (Disk 1) into the CD-ROM drive.
- Follow instructions as they appear, and start the
uninstall procedure by pressing the Remove products button.
- In the Product Selection Uninstall
window select Microsoft Enterprise Servers (SPI) and click
Next.
- In the next window select Remove. You
are updated on the progress of the program removal, click
Finish to complete.
Step 5 (only for Scenario 5, not applicable for other
scenarios)
- Remove all SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers policies
from the managed nodes.
- From the Support directory on "Smart Plug-ins, New and Upgraded, CD for OpenView
Operations/Performance for Windows Version A.0.7.21" CD 1, doubleclick the
MSESSPI_1.0.msi file.
- Follow instructions as they appear, and start the
uninstall procedure by pressing the Remove button.
- Run the "Smart Plug-ins, New and Upgraded, CD for
OpenView Operations/Performance for Windows Version A.0.7.21 for OVO for
Windows" installer again to install the Microsoft Enterprise Servers SPI.
To uninstall the new version of the Microsoft Enterprise Servers SPI follow
the usual procedure:
- In the Product Selection Uninstall
window select Microsoft Enterprise Servers (SPI) and click
Next.
- In the next window select Remove. (You are updated
on the progress of the program removal).
- Click Finish to complete.
Step 6
Delete the SPI for Microsoft Enterprise Servers policy group from the
management server:
- In the console expand the folder Policy groups.
- Right-click SPI for Microsoft Enterprise
Servers and select Delete.
Step 7
Install the B.04.00 version of the Microsoft Enterprise Servers SPI from the hp OpenView, New and Upgraded Smart Plug-Ins for OV operations for Windows 7.20 and 7.21, Volume 1 CD.

To view the status of customer requests:
- To access the technical knowledge base, go to the

- You can search for documents, known problems, or
patches in one of two ways:
- Search by keyword by filling in the pertinent
information and clicking Search.
OR
- Search by document ID number, by selecting the
"document id lookup" tab, entering the document ID number and clicking
View Document.

- Click using hp software-->product manuals.

- In the select product list, click

B.04.00.
- In the OS list, click [OS type].
