HP UCMDB
Operational Improvements
- HP Service Manager integration: Data synchronization from HP UCMDB to HP Service Manager runs faster. By default, the ServiceCenter/Service Manager Adapter now uses six concurrent threads to push data to Service Manager. The ServiceCenter/Service Manager Adapter multi-thread settings can be modified by editing the sm.properties file. For details, see "Multi-Threading" in "The HP ServiceCenter/Service Manager Adapter" chapter in Integrations.
- Reduced memory consumption: The compound relationship calculation in the TQL engine now consumes less memory.
Modifications to the Support Matrix
- The HP UCMDB Server can now be installed on the following systems:
- HP UCMDB is now supported and certified for working with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3.

- The HP UCMDB server now runs on Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5.0_22.
HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping (DDM)
Operational Improvements
- You can now choose to ignore changes on attribute values and focus on real changes occurring in your infrastructure. A managed resource may report a slightly different value for a given attribute, compared to a previous report (for example, a small disk size change from 8.00008 to 8.00009 GB). A new DDM qualifier (ALLOW_VOLATILITY) now automatically ignores these "false" changes.
By default, this qualifier affects the discovered values. To deactivate it, add a model.allow.volatility parameter to the C:\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer
\j2f\conf\settings\cmdb.xml file, as follows:

Modifications to the Support Matrix
- The DDM Probe can now be installed on the following systems:
- Windows Server 2008 SP2
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2
Note: When DDM Probe is installed on a Windows 2008 server, you must use DDM Content Pack 5 or later (older DDM Content Packs are not supported).
To use DDM Content Pack 5 on a Windows 2008 server, you must apply the DDM_on_Windows2008_ Patch_for_CP5 patch, located with the HP UCMDB 8.04 installation files.
To apply the patch on top of DDM CP5, deploy the DDM_on_Windows2008_ Patch_for_CP5.zip file through the HP UCMDB Package Manager.
- The DDM Probe now runs on Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5.0_22.
Other Improvements
- Discovery and Dependency Mapping Content Packs available on HP Live Network. The HP Live Network Web site has been extended to provide customers with a convenient way to obtain the latest Discovery and Dependency Mapping Content Pack.
