for the Windows and Linux operating systems
Software version: 9.03 / February 2011
This file provides information about new features and enhancements to HP Universal CMDB (HP UCMDB) 9.03.
Release Highlights
Modifications to the Support Matrix
- HP UCMDB is now supported and certified for working with the following database:
- HP UCMDB is now supported and certified for working in international environments on Linux.
For the complete list of hardware and software requirements, see "Hardware and Software Requirements" in the HP Universal CMDB Deployment Guide PDF.
Improvements in Discovery
Bundled Documentation
The Discovery Control Panel and the Integration Studio now provide direct access to the relevant PDF documentation in context of an adapter or job. Content pack 8 already includes the documentation related to most of the Discovery Jobs and integration adapters, and future packages may include additional documentation bundled with it. Also, when developing a package, you can include your own documentation in the package as a pdf document and attach it to the relevant jobs.
Probe Scalability
UCMDB 9.03 now supports running up to one hundred data flow probes for a single UCMDB server instance.
Integration Enhancements
Adapter Configuration
To simplify the creation of integration points, selected adapters, such as Service Manager and DDMi, now come with a template configuration that includes default options and queries if you are using Content Pack 8 or higher.
Integration Studio and Data Federation Performance
The Integration Studio has been optimized to reduce the time it takes to create and save integration points. The time it takes to perform the federation of data has also been optimized.
Data Push
When updating data to external repositories from the UCMDB, you can now 'push' the authorized state of a CI. Previously it was only possible to push the actual state of the CI.
Reconciliation Configuration Improvements
Support Deploying and Exporting Identification Rules'
You can now include Identification Rules as a resource type when selecting resources for packages. You can select from the available XML configuration files that contain identification and match criteria to determine how CIs are identified during federation or data insertion.
Reconciliation Priority Rules
Reconciliation priorities can now be set in their own module improving the usability and ease of setting your reconciliation priority rules.
Efficiency Gains at the User Interface Level
Auto-completion of User Input
Options for suggested attribute values are automatically provided when you begin to type in various text fields, such as in the New CI dialog box and in the Query Node Properties dialog box.
Save CI Directly from Topology to a Model or View
When viewing a CI or a group of CIs in various contexts throughout UCMDB, you can right click the CIs and choose whether to add them to an existing view or model or create a new view or model without having to navigate from your current location. These locations include the IT Universe Manager (View Results, Get Related CIs, or any search results), as well as the Reports module.
History of Relationship Attributes
It is now possible to view history changes in relationship attributes in the ITU and Change reports.
Greater Control of Inter-layer Relationships
IT Universe Manager enables creating and controlling relationships between layers of a view. Examples of an inter-layer relationship are when a CI appears under two different parent CIs, or if a relationship exists between parent CIs and that relationship is reflected on a different layer between the parent CIs' children.
You can manage how these inter-layer relationships are displayed by selecting one of the following options:
Best Practice Documentation
Data Flow Management Best Practices
A new best practices document is now available to help determine when to use data federation and when to use data population. It provides information on what factors to consider when developing a data acquisition policy. The pdf document is available in the following location: <UCMDB install directory>\UCMDBServer\deploy\ucmdb-docs\docs\eng\pdfs\DFM_Best_Practices.pdf.
