Version Content and Limitations
Installation
- If you do not yet have HP Universal CMDB 7.0 installed, install it according to the instructions in the HP Universal CMDB 7.0 Deployment Guide. Then install HP Universal CMDB 7.02 according to the below instructions.
- Install the HP UCMDB 7.02 Server:
- Extract UCMDB_00005.zip (Windows) or UCMDB_00006.zip (Solaris) to a temporary directory.
- Run the Setup utility (setup.exe for Windows, setup.bin for Solaris).
- Clear the browser Java cache:
- Redeploy the updated packages in the UCMDB application (Admin > Settings > Package Manager). For details, see the Package Manager section of the Model Management guide.
- Install the 7.02 Discovery Probe:
- Federated Adapters upgrade notes:
- Out of the box adapters. If you changed any configuration files for out-of-the-box Service Desk adapter or Generic DB adapter, back up these files to a different location before 7.02 installation. Otherwise you will lose your data. After 7.02 installation, copy the backed up configuration files back to their original locations:
- Proprietary adapters. Save all proprietary adapters before installing 7.02, and then copy them to their original location after 7.02 installation.
Version Content and Limitations
- Updated Discovery Probe to version 7.02 Build 23 (includes bug fixes)
- Added (in 7.01) out-of-the-box ServiceCenter/Service Manager federated adapter plug-in to support federated queries to ServiceCenter/Service Manager. For details, see separate Service_Manager_adapter_ucmdb.pdf, located in the Download area.
- Known Limitation and Workaround: When changes are made in View Manager and these changes affect the results of a TQL, federated CIs in the view are not updated. This is because federated TQLs are calculated ad-hoc only and are not updated when a view is recalculated. To update the federated CIs, right-click the view in View Explorer and select "Full View Recalculation." (Note that the recalculation may take a long time.)
- Bug fixes - see table below for details:

Version Content and Limitations
- Updated Discovery Probe to version 7.01 Build 17 (includes bug fixes)
- Added out-of-the-box ServiceCenter/Service Manager federated adapter plug-in to support federated queries to ServiceCenter/Service Manager. For details, see separate Service_Manager_adapter_ucmdb.pdf, located in the Download area.
- Added ability to link directly into specific HP Universal CMDB pages (including specific views, reports, CI properties, and others) without being located in the HP Universal CMDB context. . For details, see separate DirectURLLinks.pdf, located in the Download area.
- Added client-side support for Java 6.

Integrations
System Requirements
To view a complete list of system requirements, see the HP Universal CMDB Deployment Guide.
Notes and Limitations
Discovery
- Configuring the 7.0 Discovery Probes incorrectly causes tasks to not be dispatched properly.
- When upgrading from 6.x to 7.0, the newly installed Discovery Probes need to be configured as belonging to the External domain, rather than the default Customer domain.
- Host Fingerprint Discovery is not supported on Windows 2003. Host Fingerprint Discovery is based on the nmap tool. The version the product currently uses does not work properly on Windows 2003 server, and can cause the Host Fingerprint Discovery to malfunction.
IT Universe Administration
- To work properly, the UCMDB applet used in UCMDB Admin > IT Universe and UCMDB Application > Topology Map may require more memory than is allocated by default, especially when viewing very large maps or when using the applet for a long time without restarting the browser. To change the memory allocation, modify a file on the client machine (on the machine of the user who will be using the applet).
- On Windows machines, open the file ..\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties.
On Solaris machines, open the file ${user.home}/.java/deployment/deployment.properties. Locate the lines near the end of the file that begin deployment.javapi.jre.<XXX>.args=, where XXX represents the Java version. (For more information about deployment properties, see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html.)- Change the line with the latest Java version by adding to the end of it the text -XmxYYYm, where YYY is the amount of memory (in megabytes) you want to allocate to the Java applet. For example, deployment.javapi.jre.1.5.0_11.args=-Xmx128m allocates 128 megabytes of memory to the applet.
The default value (if no -Xmx parameter exists) is 64MB. You can experiment with the values 128 MB and 256 MB. It is unadvisable to use more than 256 MB. If Java is unable to acquire the specified memory it will fail to load. In this case, set the memory allocation value to a lower value.
