Fixes

QXCR1000239249 : Enterprise Management Advisor (EMA) agent monitoring feature do not work on Windows.

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

This release contains the following known problems and limitations:

Problem: The default directory for the policies in the TIBSPI-WIN-HAWK-Agent-V1 policy group is incorrectly listed as c:\tibco\hawk\Logs\.
Workaround: The correct default directory is c:\tibco\hawk\Log\. If you have installed TIBCO Hawk in the default directory on Windows, modify the log file location in the policies to c:\tibco\hawk\Log\. If you have installed TIBCO Hawk in a different directory on Windows, modify the log file location in the policies to identify the directory in which you installed Hawk.
Problem: The Resource Explorer fails to start from the Java console. When the path variable and the environment variable, JAVA_HOME is changed, the Java Administration interface is not able to pickup the values and hence the Resource Explorer fails to start.
Workaround: To start the Resource Explorer from the Java console, follow these steps:
1. Install and configure TIBCO SPI.
2. Transfer hp_resource_explorer.zip file located on the management server from /opt/OV/bin to a location on your system where Java interface is running.
3. Unzip and copy the file to your local computer.
4. Set the JAVA_HOME variable.
5. Start the Java console and logon with the User Name: TIBSPI_Op and Password: TIBSPI_Op
6. From the toolbar, select TIBSPI_Op -> TIBCOService -> TIBCORoot -> tibcodomain1 -> TIBCOServers -> TIBCO Administrator. Right-click the TIBCO Administrator -> Launch -> Resource Explorer.
Problem: By default, you cannot use Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) language characters in the configuration interface.
Workaround: Modify the JAVA_HOME variable in the /var/opt/OV/bin/OpC/cmds/tib_config script on the HPOM management server to use Java Virtual Machine (JVM) on the system that is configured to display Asian characters.
Limitation: After you uninstall TIBCO SPI, the following message appears:
Removing SPI policy category TIB_Instrumentation from DB: /opt/OV/bin/OpC/utils/opcpolicy -del_cat cat_list=TIB_Instrumentation >> /var/opt/OV/log/SPIInstallLogs/TIBSPI_UnInstall.log 2>&1. Category TIB_Instrumentation not found in DB. Removing SPI policy category from DB failed.
You can ignore this error message.
Limitation: The Frontend service do not support data collection from multiple policies simultaneously. You can have only one monitor policy to collect data.
Limitation: TIBCO SPI can only have one Frontend for one Backend service. Only one Backend service runs per management server. The Frontend service can monitor only one Enterprise Management Advisor (EMA) at one time.
Limitation: The Host Managed Object (MO) corresponding to an Rendezvous Daemon (RVD) is not discovered in the following scenario:
You have an RVD process started on a host where no Hawk Agent is running. If RVDs are discovered by Hawk sniffer, only RVD MOs are created and there will be no Host MOs corresponding to the machines where the RVDs are running. This is because there is no Hawk Agent running on those machines. As a result, the following historical reports will not be available for those specific RVDs:
- TIBCO RVD Retransmissions & Network Interface Errors
- TIBCO RVD & Network Interface Send Rates
- TIBCO RVD & Network Interface Receive Rates
Limitation: If new managed resources are introduced in the TIBCO environment after a failover, the resources will not be discovered by the backup Enterprise Management Advisor (EMA). This is a limitation in TIBCO EMA 2.0. Restart the primary and backup TIBCO EMA instances.
Limitation: For accessing a root Managed Object (MO) in TIBCO EMA 2.0 and 2.1, the URL is changed. The Root MO WSDL URL is: http://<host>:8888/?wsdl:objid=tibema://www.tibco.com/ema/2005/01/mo/identity/Root.
Limitation: When the log level is set to FINE for frontend tracing in the /var/opt/OV/conf/tib/Frontend.properties file, the frontend trace files /var/opt/OV/log/tib/frontend.trace.* might not be viewable in some editors such as vi. This is due to long trace messages.
Limitation: HP Java console and Service Navigator – You must install Japanese fonts and set the Windows default language to Japanese to display Japanese characters when using Windows.
