Installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing HP SIM Integration, are documented in the Installation Guide for Installation and Reference Guide for HP Operations Integration for HP Systems Insight Manager provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. The document file is included on the product's CD/DVD media as:

Following are the new features of HP SIM Integration 1.30:

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

Version Verify and Self-Healing Info tool fail on an agent running as non-root user

Symptom:  The HPOM message browser displays the following incomplete message:

Description:  This message appears if the version of HP SIM is lower than 5.0 SP5.

Action:  Upgrade the version of HP SIM to version 5.0 with Service Pack 5.0 or above.

Get HP SIM Credentials tool does not work in HPOM Remote Console

Symptom:   Get HP SIM Credentials tool does not work in HPOM Remote Console.

Action: Run the tool from HPOM Console instead of Remote Console.

The Version Verify and Self-Healing Info tools failing on agent running as non-root user

Symptom:   When the OM Agent is migrated from root user to non-root user, the Version Verify and Self-Healing Info fails with the following
                    error.
                  Cannot open collector output file "/tmp/SIM_INT/SIM_INT.xml" for writing

Action:        If the OM Agent is migrated from root user to non-root user, delete or rename the HP SIM Integration files or directories from
         /tmp
folder on the node that is created by the root user.

Service discovery fails after SPI upgrade

Symptom:   Service discovery fails after SPI upgrade.

Action:        Repeat the following steps on managed nodes where service discovery is failing.

  • Step 1: Select the managed node from the node tree, right click and select view -> Policy Inventory. This would list all the policies in that node.

  • Step 2:. Now select all the HP SIM Integration policies, right click and choose All Tasks -> Remove from node.
  • Step 3: In the console tree, select Policy management -> Policy groups -> HP SIM Integration.
    a) Right-click and select All Tasks -> Deploy on.
    b) Choose the appropriate node. Select OK.

Documentation Errata

The upgrade steps given with the SPI Guide and on-line help are incomplete. Given below are the actual upgrade steps that need to be followed.
