The following features are new to version 4.0 of the NNM RAMS Integration Module. See the NNM RAMS Integration Module User Guide for more information.
Instructions for installing the NNM/RAMS Integration Module are documented in the NNM/RAMS Integration Module Installation Guide. The installation guide is included in the product download package as:
./Docs/Integration/NNM_integrationinstall.pdf
When you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, the manuals and release notes are copied into the following location on your NNM management station:
$OV_WWW/htdocs/$LANG/
%OV_WWW%\htdocs\%LANG%\
Updated versions of the manuals and release notes are posted on the HP OpenView Product Manuals web site at http://ovweb.external.hp.com/lpe/doc_serv/. Visit this site to obtain the latest versions.
Before you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
Ensure that the following prerequisite consolidated patches and their most recent patches (June 2006 or later) are installed on all systems in the management environment prior to installing the Integration Module.
To download the patches, go to http://support.openview.hp.com and select

follows:
The varbind positions in the following RAMS alarm object IDs are normalized as follows:

You can merge changes from the original files in $OV_TMP
by
copy and paste. Modify varbind position changes as necessary. The description
field describes the varbinds and their new positions.
On Windows platform, long DNS lookup time on IP addresses that do not resolve can cause slow load time for IGP views. You may tweak the default Windows NetBios settings to reduce the lookup time.
You should see these parameters:
When more than one IGP view is opened, each displaying a different IGP protocol from a single GUI session, the views may display a mix of protocol information.
Workaround: Close windows opened on an IGP protocol before launching IGP views for a different IGP protocol.
For ISIS network topologies based on NSAP addressing, RAMS events and RAMS link table views will display the source and destination adjacent addresses as 255.255.255.255 or 0.0.0.0 instead of the NSAP addresses. (QXCR1000334769)
Workaround: None
SNMP Test Trap for multiple trap destinations (in the RAMS Web Admin GUI Administration->Alerts page) sends the test trap to just the first destination in the list.
Workaround: Run the SNMP Test Trap for each destination one by one.
OSPF and ISIS GRE Tunnel Down events are not correlated with APA events. (QXCR1000339753)
Workaround: Look at the 'detected' string description in the Tunnel Down event for "tunnel router down" or "interface disabled" which indicates an layer 2 cause of the tunnel state.
It may require multiple attempts to enable the RAMS Adjacency Established event from the RAMS Web Admin GUI IGP Alerts page before the NNM management station starts receiving RAMS Adjacency Established alarms.
If none of the OV_RAMSD misconfiguration events are cancelled when faults are restored and you do not see any Adjacency Established events in the NNM alarm browser, verify by running $OV_BIN/ovdumpevents -l {time} ; search results for the text "Established" . If you do not find any Adjacency Established alarms, you must (re) enable the event from the Alerts page.
RAMS Ajacency Established events may not always cancel RAMS Adjacency Lost events for an adjacency between neighbors.
After you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, the installation
directory under /tmp
still exists.
Workaround: Clean the /tmp
directory after you install the
NNM/RAMS Integration Module.
On IPF platforms with NNM 7.51 installed, if you uninstall the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, the uninstall process removes the HPOVSnmp and HPOVMIB packages.
Workaround: Reinstall the packages via the following commands:
swinstall -s /path to installed
bits/packages/HPOvSNMP-01.10.055-HPUX11.22_IPF32-release.depot
HPOvNNM.HPOVSNMP
swinstall -s /path to installed
bits/packages/HPOvMIB-01.10.055-HPUX11.22_IPF32-release.depot
HPOvNNM.HPOVMIB
The path is where you untar the CD image and the location from where you run setup.
There are currently no known documentation errors.
