This document provides an overview of the system requirements and supported devices for HP Route Analytics Management Software (HP RAMS) version 9.21.

Hardware Requirements

Before installing HP RAMS, make sure that your system meets the following requirements:

• HP Proliant DL380 G7

• HP Proliant DL380 G6
• HP Proliant DL360 G6

Notes:

1. HP RAMS 9.21 Flow Collector is only supported on the following platforms:
   • DL380p G8
   • DL360p G8
   • DL380 G7
   • DL360 G7
   • DL380 G6
   • DL360 G6
2. All units are configured with a single logical disk (one file system) using RAID 1+0.

Performance of a Route Recorder

• OSPF/ISIS
• 100 Areas over virtual interfaces (GREs or VLANs)
• 1,100,000 IGP prefixes
• 5,000 Routers
• BGP
• 100 ASs and 1,000 peers per AS
• 2,500 events per second. Capable of much higher bursts
• Number of routes per recorder is a function of memory configuration.
• MPLS VPN
• 19,000 Route Targets
• Number of routes per recorder is a function of memory configuration.
• Collector
• 20,000 tunnels.
• 5000 tunnels as a minimum per OS (Junos, IOS, IOS XR, Alcatel)
• Trap receiver
• 100 traps per second.

Performance of a Flow Collector

• 40,000 Flow records per second

Performance of a Flow Analyzer

Performance of a Flow Analyzer is disk bound hence, newer platforms with larger disk arrays will perform better.
