Instructions for installing the NNM/RAMS Integration Module are documented in the NNM/RAMS Integration Module Installation Guide.
Note: The NNM/RAMS Integration Module installation guide and users guide in RAMS 5.5 are no longer included in the product installation package. All NNM/RAMS Integration Module and Route Analytics Management System/Traffic Analysis Add-on product manuals and release notes are now delivered in the Route Analytics Management System 5.5 Documentation CD as part of the product's CD media kit. The documents are available in two languages, English and Japanese.
Updated versions of the manuals and release notes are posted on the HP Product Manuals web site at http://ovweb.external.hp.com/lpe/doc_serv/. Visit this site to obtain the latest versions.
Before you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
Windows 2003 + SP2 for English locale only. *Note: NNM 7.51 AE support on this platform requires IP 16 or later patch
Custom changes to RAMS-related (OV_RAMS, OV_RAMSD, rex, and tex) events in
$OV_CONF/$lang/trapd.conf
file are not maintained when you
upgrade to RAMS 5.50. All customer changes are overwritten. Copies of the
original trapd.conf
files are saved at
$OV_TMP/trapd.conf.$lang
.
You can merge changes from the original files in $OV_TMP
by
copy and paste. Modify varbind position changes as necessary. The description
field describes the varbinds and their new positions.
$OV_MAIN_PATH/tomcat/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.4/webapps/topology/WEB-INF/web.xml
,
is copied into a file named web.xml.previous
in the same
directory. You can merge custom changes in the web.xml.previous
file to the web.xml
file when the setupRAMS.ovpl
script finishes. On the Windows platform, long DNS lookup time on IP addresses that do not resolve can cause slow load time for IGP views. You may tweak the default Windows NetBios settings to reduce the lookup time:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters
You should see these parameters:
Note: this does not affect your installation.
Workaround: Look at the 'detected' string description in the Tunnel Down event for "tunnel router down" or "interface disabled" which indicates a layer 2 cause of the tunnel state.
$OV_BIN/ovdumpevents -l {time}
.
Search the results for the text, "Established
." If you do not
find any Adjacency Established alarms, you must (re)enable the event from the
Alerts page.
/tmp
still exists.
Workaround: Clean the /tmp
directory after you install the
NNM/RAMS Integration Module.
/opt/OV/Uninstall/HPOvRAMS/setup.bin
, you must first
set up the following path variables for finding the 1.4 JRE.
export PATH=/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/bin/IA64N/:$PATH
SHLIB_PATH
is set,
export
SHLIB_PATH=$SHLIB_PATH:/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/lib/IA64N/server
otherwise
export SHLIB_PATH=/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/lib/IA64N/server
Both the Document Release Date and the Software Release Date on all product manuals should be corrected to November 2007.
The NNM/RAMS Integration Module is supported in a high availability environment. To set up the high availability environment, install and configure the NNM/RAMS Integration Module on both the active and standby server systems. Contact HP technical support for specific configuration needs.
