ISSUE NO. (Internal use only)

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM AND WORKAROUND

When using Cygwin with a client set to use a foreign language, particularly German (or any language that uses umlauts), Telnet and FTP will not work with PPM Center unless the following changes are made in the appropriate shell file.

In file .inputrc:

set meta-flag on

set convert-meta off

set output-meta on

set input-meta on

In file .bashrc:

export LC_TYPE=iso_8859_1

Reports that use SQL*Plus encounter problems when the short JDBC URL format has been specified in the server.conf file. Also, SQL*Plus reports on Windows machines sometimes hang.

Workaround: To fix the JDBC URL format issue, do one of the following:

·         Use the long JDBC URL format in the server.conf file.

·         Define the DB connection alias in the tnsnames.ora configuration file to be the same as the SID. For example: If JDBC_URL is jdbc:oracle:thin:@labm1itg10:1521:itg10a, the following entry should be added to tnsnames.ora:

ITG10A =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = labm1itg10)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = itg10a)
)
)

·         Add the following entry to the server.conf file:

DB_CONNECTION_STRING=

For example, based on the entry above, the parameter could be:

DB_CONNECTION_STRING=itg10a

Or

DB_CONNECTION_STRING=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = labm1itg10)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = itg10a)))

To fix the problem created by SQL*Plus reports hanging on Windows machines, add the following entry to the server.conf file:

SQLPLUS_VERSION=90101

Microsoft Project integration: In PPM Center-controlled plans in which tasks are split across holidays, a schedule produced by Microsoft Project will not have accurate dates. This problem will be fixed in PPM Center version 7.1 Service Pack 1.

There are several options for viewing the work plan page, including Schedule, Actuals, Costing, Earned Value, Gantt, or Printing. The Printing view provides flexibility when exporting the work plan to PDF and contains all the columns available. However, the Printing view loads a large amount of data, and the performance of this view is not as good as other views. Consider making one of the other views your default view.

Project Management: The project budget rollup mode is not updated correctly when updating from PPM Center version 7.0.

Workaround: The rollup mode is still preserved correctly on the Budget page. Project budget rollup calculation is not affected as long as the Budget setting is unchanged on the Modify Budget page. Once the budget rollup mode is set properly in Project Settings, the problem is resolved.

The Financial Management createCostRules Web service cannot handle requests that contain cost rules for more than 1,000 resources.

When upgrading from version 6.0, particular work plan tasks that are In Progress in version 6.0 will be in Ready status after the upgrade (and any Actual Start Date for those tasks will be removed). This occurs for any task that meets all of the following conditions:

·         The status of the task is In Progress.

·         The work plan is integrated with Time Management.

·         No time has been logged against the task on time sheets.

PDF generation does not work for the Project Overview page on an AIX instance.

On AIX, bouncycastle JARs need to be moved out of WEB-INF lib. Because wss4j always sets bouncycastle provider at position 2 if found in classpath, problems arise on AIX with PDF export.

Workaround: Manually set the bouncycastle provider on AIX:

  1. Copy bcprov-jdk13-133.jar from WEB-INF/lib into $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext dir
  2. Modify $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/java.security to add the following line in security provider list:
    security.provider.5=org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider
  3. Delete bcprov-jdk13-133.jar, bcprov-jdk14-129.jar from WEB-INF/lib

    This way, both PDF export (encryption) and Web service encryption can work together.

193371

Project Management: A task in Ready status with with actuals data may not change to In Progress status after an upgrade to PPM Center version 7.1. Workaround: Add an actual start date to the task to set it to In Progress.

193337

In the Program Project List Portlet, results are not displayed correctly after upgrading to PPM Center version 7.1.

Workaround:

  1. In the Edit Preferences page for the portlet, set the Project Status to blank.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Reapply the filter for Project Status.
  4. Click Save.

193372

Demand Management: A SQL exception error appears in the Current Demand List portlet in an upgraded instance. Workaround: Edit the Current Demand List preferences to require the “Include current demand for this” field.

193373

Project Management: After upgrading to version 7.1, a resource can be assigned to a task when there are actuals on the Unassigned Row. Workaround: Delete the newly assigned resource.

The PDF export engine used by the Dashboard does not support SSL. If you are using HTTPS, set the following parameters in the server.conf file:

com.kintana.core.server.dashboard.PDF-URL=localhost

com.kintana.core.server.dashboard.Non-SSL-Port=8080

In addition, comment out or remove the following parameter:

com.kintana.core.server.WEB_SERVER=APACHE

For upgrading to PPM Center 7.1: If your instance has millions of entities (such as requests or time sheets), HP recommends setting the database parameter undo_retention to 4 to 6 hours. This setting is needed only during the upgrade process. You can reset the parameter after the upgrade is complete.

NA

If you are using an Apache Web server: There is a critical security flaw in some versions of the mod_jk Apache Tomcat connector. If you are not using ASF mod_jk 1.2.21, you should upgrade as soon as possible. As a temporary workaround, you can prevent a security exploit by adding the following line to your Apache configuration file:
