The HP Operations agent 8.53 contains new features, feature enhancements, and other changes.
The following lightweight versions of agent API libraries are included with the HP Operations agent 8.53:
The new lightweight agent API libraries (libopcagtapi.so, libopcagtapi.dll, and libopcagtapi.libs) and old agent API libraries (libopc_r.so, opcapi.dll, and opcapi.lib) provide the same functionality; the implementation of the agent API is enhanced in this version with the introduction of the lightweight agent API libraries. The lightweight agent API libraries are supported on all existing and new platforms while the old agent API libraries are supported only on old platforms.
On the RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 U6 platform (where the agent runs in the 32-bit emulation mode), both the 32-bit and 64-bit formats of the API libraries are available. The 32-bit API libraries are available in the standard location. The following table presents the location details of the 64-bit API libraries on this platform.
Managed Operating System | Location of the Lightweight API Libraries | Location of the Old API Libraries |
---|---|---|
RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 U6 (32-bit agent on x64 native operating system – emulation) |

/opt/OV/lib64 |
On all other supported 64-bit platforms, both the 32-bit and 64-bit formats of the API libraries are available. The 64-bit API libraries are available in the standard locations. The following table presents the location details of the 32-bit API libraries on these platforms.

In addition , the following Java APIs are available for 32-bit agents on 64-bit Linux (Linux x64 RHEL4 U6) platforms:
The existing data collection script—itochecker_agt—is updated to collect more meaningful data and it is now called the OV Agent Data Collection tool. The tool collects details from the agent node; these details help you troubleshoot problems. For more information on the usage of the tool, see ov_agt_data_collection.README from $InstallDir/contrib/opc.
