What's New

The following enhancements are introduced in HP Network Virtualization for Mobile version 9.00:

NV Server

HP Network Virtualization for Mobile now includes a server component. The NV Server offers the following capabilities:

• User Management: Create and manage users and user groups for all Network Virtualization for Mobile components. Manage permissions by user group.
• Authentication: Authenticate user logins against the NV Server when logging into any Network Virtualization for Mobile component.
• Data Storage: Store test configurations, test results, analysis results, and more on the NV Server. Share this data between NV Test Managers.
• Floating License Management: Dynamically manage floating licenses for all Network Virtualization for Mobile components from the NV Server.

NV Test Manager

The following enhancements are available from the NV Test Manager:

• New and improved user interface.
• Create Quick Tests for fast and easy network virtualization or create Advanced Tests for finely tuned virtualization scenarios.
• Upload and download tests and analysis results to and from the NV Server.
• Save network profiles for quick access when creating new tests. Existing network profiles can be edited and show virtualization details.
• View real-time network statistics for in-progress tests and summary statistics for completed tests.
• Share floating licenses between NV Test Managers using the NV Server in order to maximize license usage.
• The NV Test Manager and the NV Agent can now be installed on Linux.
• When installed as a standalone without the NV Server, the NV Test Manager now supports authentication.
• Connect to the NV Test Manager over HTTP or HTTPS.
• Specify exact client and server IP addresses for tests so that only specific network traffic is impaired.
• View additional test analysis reports: HTTP Waterfall, HTTPS Analysis, and exported HTML or CSV reports. In addition, the HTTP Optimization Report includes additional drill-down of problematic requests.
• Easier to create and manage test transactions.

NV REST API

The HP Network Virtualization for Mobile API has been expanded:

• New API services allow you to access even more Network Virtualization for Mobile features, including test analysis.
• Run tests from the API in multi-user mode, in addition to single-user mode.
• Create reusable network profiles (virtual locations) using the new NV Location Editor. A virtual location contains all network parameters required for a test. Use virtual locations to quickly create new tests through the API.
• Add test flows in real-time while a test is running.
• Use dynamic filters for real-time control over which network traffic is impaired while a test is running.

Notes and Limitations

Limitation: There can be performance degradation if there are more than 80 completed tests on a given NV Test Manager.

Workaround: As you approach 80 tests, archive old tests to the NV Server and then delete them from the NV Test Manager.

Limitation: NV Test Manager and NV WatchDog Service may become unresponsive if the computer went into Sleep mode while a test was running.

Workaround: Restart the NV WatchDog Service service. If the restart fails, kill the NVServicesJ process and then restart the NV WatchDog Service service.

Limitation: When opening the Network Virtualization for Mobile components (NV Server, NV Test Manager) with Internet Explorer, the NV component might not open and a blank browser window is displayed.

Workaround: In the IE browser, go to Internet Options > Security > Custom level and make sure that scripting is enabled. Close all IE browser windows and reopen the NV component.
