The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic contains new features, feature enhancements, and other changes.
New Features
The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic contains these new features:
- Support for new IP flow export formats:
- JFlow
- Internet Protocol Flow Information eXport (IPFIX)
- Longer retention period and targeted reports for top N analysis: Before logging the data into the NPS database, the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic aggregates and filters data collected over 1 minute and 15 minute time intervals and preserves only the top contributors to network traffic within these intervals. By default, the 1-minute data is stored for 31 days and the 15-minute data (further aggregated to hourly aggregates)is stored for 400 days. It is possible configure the retention periods to increase or decrease storage of high granularity data. Two new sets of reports—Interface Traffic_1_min and Interface Traffic_15_min—help you analyze the data that provide targeted top N reports for application, Type of Service (ToS), and host-based analysis.
- Site-based reports: You can configure site definitions based on individual IP addresses or IP ranges that are used to identify originating and destination sites for traffic. You can view reports for specific sites defined in your NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic configuration.
- Bandwidth reports: The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic provides you with the metrics that indicate the bandwidth utilization of different hosts that contribute to the network traffic. You can use these metrics for monthly and yearly reports.
- Reports for node groups: You can configure view traffic reports for specific node groups in NNMi.
- Multi-tenancy: The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic supports multi-tenancy for all views and reports based on the NNM multi-tenancy security model.
- Traffic analysis in the NNMi console: This version of the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic introduces a new workspace (Traffic Analysis) with two views--Flow Reporting Interfaces and Flow Reporting Nodes. These views show the interfaces and nodes that are exporting IP flow packets to the Leaf Collectors. Traffic data for these entities is visible in detail forms as well as analysis panels. In addition, you can access the Leaf Collector view directly from the Configuration workspace of NNMi.
- Class of Service enrichment: You can configure 'Class of Service' instances based on Type of Service classes which are used to enrich the traffic data and can be used for reporting.
- High Availability: The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic supports deployment in the High Availability environment - this feature is carried over from the 9.01 release.
Enhancements
The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic contains these enhancements:
- The new command line utility—nmstrafficfilterappmaptool.ovpl— enables you to create filter groups
and application mapping from the command line.
- You need not restart the product after making configuration changes on the Master Collector system. Changes made to the Master Collector take effect automatically.
For more information about customer-related enhancements and software fixes, see Enhancements and Fixes.
Installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic, are documented in the Installation Guide for NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic provided in PDF (.pdf) format. You can find the Installation Guide at the root location on the product installation media.
Upgrading to the Version 9.10
While upgrading the Leaf Collector from 9.01 to 9.10, you must manually add additional properties in the following file:
- On Linux:
/var/opt/OV/shared/traffic-leaf/conf/nms-traffic-leaf.address
- On Windows:
<Leaf_Data_Dir>\shared\traffic-leaf\conf\nms-traffic-leaf.address
In this instance, <Leaf_Data_Dir> is the data directory for the Leaf Collector.
You must add the following content to the file before starting the Leaf Collector:
topn.longterm.data=true
max.dump.hours=1680
topn.flowrecord.pool.size=300000

QCCR1B86003: The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic cannot communicate with NNMi if the web service client password used during the Master Collector installation includes the ! character.
PROBLEM: |
The NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic cannot communicate with NNMi if the web service client password used during the Master Collector installation includes the ! character. |
WORKAROUND: |
If the web service client user password (which is created from the NNMi console) that you used during the master Collector installation includes the ! character, run the following command on the Master Collector system after the installation is complete:
On Windows
<Master_install_dir>\nonOV\traffic-master\bin\encrypttrafficpassword.ovpl --nnmEncrypt=<password>
On Linux
/opt/OV/nonOV/traffic-master/bin/encrypttrafficpassword.ovpl --nnmEncrypt=<password>
In this instance, <Master_install_dir> is the installation directory for the Master Collector and <password> is the web service client password. |
QCCR1B87476: Changes made in the Security Group Name and Interface Security Group Name for an interface are not updated on reports
PROBLEM: |
Changes made in the Security Group Name and Interface Security Group Name for an interface are not updated on reports in certain cases for Sflow.
If an interface that does not have an IP address is configured to send flow packets, and if you change the security group of the interface (or the node that hosts the interface), the effect is not visible until you restart the Master Collector. |
WORKAROUND: |
Restart the Master Collector.
|
QCCR1B52290: Browser (Internet Explorer) error message appears on the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic form
PROBLEM: |
If you use the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic form with Internet Explorer, the following error message might appear:
Errors on this page might cause it to work incorrectly |
WORKAROUND: |
Refresh the browser. |
QCCR1B87410: Parsing error during report launch.
PROBLEM: |
If bandwidth metrics are selected while launching the Top Applications report, launching another report with a different metric may throw an error. |
WORKAROUND: |
Reset topology filters or launch the report in a new browser instance. |
QCCR1B86267: nmstrafficfiltappmaptool.ovpl does not work if the input or output file path includes spaces.
PROBLEM: |
The nmstrafficfiltappmaptool.ovpl tool does not work if the input or output file path includes spaces. |
WORKAROUND: |
None |
QCCR1B50020: On the NPS system, after installing and uninstalling the Master or Leaf Collector once, if you try to install the Master or Leaf Collector for a second time, the installation fails.
PROBLEM: |
On the NPS system, after installing and uninstalling the Master or Leaf Collector once, if you try to install the Master or Leaf Collector for a second time, the installation fails. |
WORKAROUND: |
Use the Force option on the installation wizard while installing the Master or Leaf Collector. |
QCCR1B87688: After upgrading the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic to the version 9.10, Filter Groups are not visible for the Leaf Collectors that were configured before the upgrade.
PROBLEM: |
After upgrading the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic to the version 9.10, Filter Groups are not visible in the Application Filter Group tab on the Configuration form for the Leaf Collectors that were configured before the upgrade. You can see only checkboxes in the Application Filter Group tab. |
WORKAROUND: |
1. Clear all the checkboxes, and then click Save & Close.
2. Open the same form again. You can now view all the Filter Groups in the Application Filter Group tab. Select all the checkboxes on the form, and then click Save & Close. |
QCIM1B94008: Collections may not work if you do not enable SNMP on the devices.
PROBLEM: |
Collections may not work if you do not enable SNMP on the devices. |
WORKAROUND: |
You must enable SNMP on the devices for successful collections. |
QCCR1B95288: NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic does not support source ports
PROBLEM: |
When you filter the NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic reports based on the source port, the source port values are displayed as "0" in the report. If you drill down to view further detail from the source port value, NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic displays an empty report. |
WORKAROUND: |
None. The support for source ports is stopped in NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic version 9.10 and later. The issue of the source port column appearing in the reports will be addressed in the next release.
