What's New in This Release
NNM iSPI Performance for QA 9.11 contains new features, feature enhancements, and other changes.
New Features
NNM iSPI Performance for QA 9.11 contains these new features and enhancements:
- Class Based Quality of Service (CBQoS): NNM iSPI Performance for QA monitors CBQoS elements; for example, CBQoS enabled interfaces, sub-interfaces, control planes, and Frame Relay Permanent Virtual Connections (PVC).
- CBQoS Interfaces Inventory View: This inventory view enables you to view the CBQoS enabled interfaces that are discovered in the network. The Analysis pane presents details of the object selected in the CBQoS Interfaces inventory view.
- CBQoS Policies Inventory View: This inventory view enables you to view policies and attributes defined on a node that are associated with multiple interfaces and the CBQoS actions applied on an interface. You can also drill down to the Class Map Details view to view the details of the selected classmap. The Analysis pane provides details about the selected object in the CBQoS Policies inventory view.
- CBQoS Actions Inventory View: You can view all instances of the type of CBQoS actions associated with the class. The type of CBQoS actions are listed below:
- Queuing
- Shaping
- Policing
- Marking
- RED (Random Early Detect)
- CBQoS Metrics: The CBQoS extension pack for NNM iSPI Performance for QA introduces a new set of reports which can give details of the CBQoS mechanism in action. For example, on a CBQoS configured interface, you can determine the number of packets associated with a particular class or policy, or the number of bytes that exceed the policed bandwidth. There are a set of derived metrics, such as % Packet Drop Per Class or % Packet Drop due to Policing, and so on. Each category listed below contains a set of metrics:
- Match Statement
- Policing Action
- Queuing
- Shaping
- RED (Random Early Detection)
- Packet Marking
- Supported MIBS:

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workaround
This release contains the following unresolved problems and limitations. The list also contains workarounds to resolve certain problems.
PROBLEM: |
The Queuing tab of CBQoS Class Map form displays duplicate police configuration value. Note that you can open the CBQoS Class Map form by selecting a traffic class in the Traffic Class tab of the CBQoS Policy form, and clicking Open. |
WORKAROUND: |
None |
PROBLEM: |
Cluster Switch-Over does not close NNM ISPI Performance for QA jboss related ports properly, while running in Linux VCS HA setup, causing switch-back problem. |
WORKAROUND: |
Check if any of the port used by NNM ISPI Performance for QA is in use. Release the ports that are in use and start the failover process again. |
PROBLEM: |
Interface inventory displays service policy as one action in a single parent policy, even if the child policy is invoked by two parent policies |
WORKAROUND: |
None. |
PROBLEM: |
If you seed new nodes in the regional manager while the global manager is down, NNM iSPI Performance for QA does not populate the global manager with the CBQoS data after the bridge is re-established. |
WORKAROUND: |
Perform configuration polling in the regional manager after the bridge is re-established. |
PROBLEM: |
The command nmsqadisco.ovpl fails, while attempting to discover 849 nodes. |
WORKAROUND: |
Avoid using this command to discover large number of nodes. |
PROBLEM: |
The Threshold Tab in the CBQoS Interface Inventory View displays the classmap details of the default classes of the policy. |
WORKAROUND: |
This is expected behavior. You configure a set of actions for the default classes of a policy too. Even if you filter the default classes using the CBQoS Discovery Filter, NNM iSPI Performance for QA displays the actions configured on such classes
The threshold State tab contains two sets of values, runtime (state) and static (configured) values. The class default displays the configured values and not the state values if you have not configured any action on these classes. |
PROBLEM: |
Few command line utility reference links are missing in NNM iSPI Performance for QA Reference Pages. |
WORKAROUND: |
None |
PROBLEM: |
NNM iSPI Performance for QA jboss logs display the following exception:
SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: ORA-00001 |
WORKAROUND: |
This exception is not specific to any database. This exception occurs if the database was not shut down properly. |
PROBLEM: |
Clicking Actions > Reporting-Report Menu after selecting a CBQoS interface from the CBQoS Interface view may not work. |
WORKAROUND: |
Run the nnmsilentenableperfspi.ovpl command from the following directory:
-
UNIX: $NPSInstallDir/NNMPerformanceSPI/bin
- Windows: %NPSInstallDir%\NNMPerformanceSPI\bin
|
PROBLEM: |
NNM iSPI Performance for QA does not display the nested classes match statements |
WORKAROUND: |
None |
PROBLEM: |
CBQoS Discovery Filter Configuration form does not appear in NNM iSPI Performance for QA Configuration form on HP-UX platform |
WORKAROUND: |
Delete the items under /opt/OV/nonOV/qa/jboss/server/nms/work/jboss.web/localhost/qa to clear the JSP cache. |
PROBLEM: |
Selecting a traffic class and clicking on Open in CbQoS Policy Details form throws the following exception:
This item has been deleted.
You may wish to refresh your view.
Exception:com.hp.ov.nms.ui.framework.form.EntityDeletedException: b8b162f7-c367-4f04-ace6-5770be6af7b5
Currently, this exception appears for the following forms:
- InPolicy Details / OutPolicy Details tab in Interface form
- MatchStatements and Actions tab in Policy form
|
WORKAROUND: |
Double click on the selected traffic class to open the CBQoS Class Map Details form. |
