What's New in This Release?

IT Analytics 2.01 is a minor release that includes these changes:

Installation Notes

Installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing IT Analytics, are documented in the IT Analytics 2.01 Installation and Configuration Guide provided in PDF (.pdf) format. You can find the guide on the Software Support Online web site at this location: HP Software Product Manuals. You must have a valid HP Passport ID.

Support Matrix

You can find the Support Matrix for this product that lists all software and hardware requirements at this location: HP Support matrices.

Note: Most of the support areas require that you register as an HP Passport user and sign in. Many also require an active support contract. To find more information about support access levels, go to: Access levels.

To register for an HP Passport ID, go to: HP Passport Registration.

Defect Resolution

The following data warehouse ETL process issues, identified by reference number, were corrected after the release of IT Analytics 2.00. To display details about each defect, click the reference number. To hide details, click again.

93379: The Admin Physical reports display incorrect status for some KEY_LOOKUP tables.

DEFECT: The CONTRACT_KEY_LOOKUP and COSTCENTER_KEY_LOOKUP tables display an incorrect status in the Physical Admin report. The report indicates there is a problem with these tables even though no problem exists.
RESOLUTION: LOOKUP tables are no longer created when you load the CORE application, eliminating the incorrect status.

94185: A lookup query is performed on the wrong dimension.

DEFECT: The lookup is performed on the Person dimension instead of the Location dimension.
RESOLUTION: The lookup table to determine the PARENT_ID field value now is performed on the correct dimension.

The following data warehouse ETL process issues, identified by reference number, are fixed after you install software patch IT Analytics 2.00.290. To display details about each defect, click the reference number. To hide details, click again.

94133: The currency conversion process uses the first day of the period to populate actual costs from Asset Management data.

DEFECT: The exchange rate used to convert actual cost data from Asset Manager uses the first day of the period associated with the expense, rather than the specific incurred date.
RESOLUTION: The exchange rate uses the exact date associated with the expense to calculate actual costs.

94188, 94189: Hierarchy tables are not populated correctly when there are consolidation changes.

DEFECT: When dimension tables have slowly changing dimension type two updates, hierarchy tables are not updated correctly to link to the latest active parent record. These dimension tables are location, model, org, person, project, contract and costcenter.
RESOLUTION: All hierarchy tables correctly link to the parent record.

94230: The Core content pack dwt_static_creation_objects.sql is incorrect.

DEFECT: The core script has an incorrect statement for XREF_LIFECYC_MGMT setup, which breaks the actual cost XREF ETL process.
RESOLUTION: The updated XREF_LIFECYC_MGMT script enables the XREF ETL process to run.

94231: The ETL process truncates the decimal portion of actual and planned costs.

DEFECT: The ETL process removes the decimal (or cents) portion of data, rounding down to the nearest whole number. For example, if the original actual value is 700.82, the value populated in the actual cost fact table is 700 and the ETL process truncates .82.
RESOLUTION: The ETL process correctly populates the decimal portion of data for all costs.

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

This release contains certain unresolved problems and limitations, identified by a tracking number. Workarounds can help you solve some problems. To display details about each known problem, click the tracking number. To hide details, click again.

101127: Consolidation records are not processed correctly in the Hierarchy tables.

Problem: Dimension records are not marked as consolidated until after the Hierarchy ETL process runs. This results in extra records appearing in the Hierarchy tables.
Workaround: None. This problem corrects itself the next time ETL runs.

101128: Duplicate names may appear in Cost Explorer Filter and Allocation Scenario Cost Source drop-down lists.

Problem: The drop-down selection for the Cost Explorer Filter and Allocation Scenario Cost Source lists may contain duplicate names when using consolidated data.
Workaround: After selecting one of the duplicate names, view the chart or allocated costs. If no data appears, return to the drop-down list and select the other name. The selection is valid when costs are returned.

101363: Exchange rate records added to the external spreadsheet do not appear in the EXCHANGE_DIM table.

Problem: During the ETL process, IT Analytics will add to EXCHANGE_DIM only the exchange rates for dates later than those currently in the table. For example, if the Exchange table contains exchange rates from 1/1/2008 to 12/31/2008, and you attempt to add an exchange rate for 9/1/2008, it will be rejected.
Workaround: If you add a new currency to the system, you cannot backfill exchange rates for that currency. You can only add exchange rates for future dates.

IT Analytics Accessibility Support

Hewlett-Packard is committed to providing products and services, including enterprise software products that are accessible to users with disabilities. As part of that commitment, HP uses the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) to describe the conformance of our products to Section 508 standards, and help Federal Agencies comply with Section 508.

We are continuing to develop the HP BTO Software suite for usability, functionality, compatibility with third-party assistive technology software and conformance with international accessibility standards as well as Section 508.

Although Hewlett-Packard is committed to delivering products that are accessible and conform to Section 508 standards, HP will take all practical steps to ensure that future releases conform to Section 508 standards. Conformance to Section 508 standards by HP IT Analytics is also dependent upon a third-party technology that today does not conform in some areas. Hewlett-Packard is working with our third-party vendor and internal development to resolve currently identified conformance issues.
