HP Operations Manager Dependency Mapping Automation enables IT Operations teams to align their activities more fully with the business services that the IT infrastructure supports. By providing automated dependency mapping and configuration consistency in environments with multiple Operations Manager servers, HPOM DMA optimizes the ability of IT organizations to support their businesses and enables enhanced productivity and efficiency within the Operations teams.
New features in the 8.10 release include:
The My Company (dmaMyCompany) synchronization package helps you to quickly and easily arrange your CIs in Service
Navigator to, for example, reflect the geographical organization of your company.
You can configure which separators the Smart Message Mapper uses to extract keywords and hostnames from an incoming message. You can also specify whether case sensitivity is required when matching CI attributes against fields in a message ID.
You can now change the order of MSI processes. If, for example, an MSI process requires the original service IDs, you can assign a later order number to the Smart Message Mapping process.
You can simulate and verify the behavior of the Smart Message Mapper without sending an OpC message. This helps you to evaluate how a message would be mapped and responds with the selected service, where possible, without actually sending a message or updating any services in Service Navigator.
You can send messages to virtual services representing a service, such as a mail service provided by an organization.
You can synchronize End User Management (EUM) views from BAC into HPOM.
HPOM DMA can automatically create STDs to suit non-matching CIs as they are imported into HPOM.
User Role Assignment allows you to map a service to an HPOM user profile or role. After synchronization, the service is assigned to all operators that are included in the specified HPOM user profile or role.
Scripting allows you to perform additional processing and customization during to the synchronization process, before and after the upload of nodes and services to HPOM. One pre-upload and one post-upload script can be associated with each synchronization package.
You have already defined services directly in HPOM, and want to incorporate the data imported from the UCMDB with the data present in Service Navigator. You can now map the required UCMDB data into Services in HPOM in one of two ways:

HPOM DMA requires UCMDB or BAC version 7.00 or 7.50.

These requirements are listed in the Installation and User's Guide for HP Operations Manager Dependency Mapping Automation. Before installing HP Operations Manager Dependency Mapping Automation, make sure that your system meets these minimum requirements.
The Operations Manager HTTPS Agent for Windows is assigned free ports at random during start up. This may conflict with the ports required by a UCMDB or BAC installation located on the same Windows System.
SolutionStart up the UCMDB or BAC appication before starting up the HTTPS Agent on the Windows System.
The HPOM DMA product installer requires free space in a temporary directory on the host system.
If the product installer cannot complete the installation due to insufficient space in the temp directory then use the following environment variables to point the temp directory to another directory with more space available and retry the installation:
On Windows systems, the temporary directory is defined as %TEMP%.
HPOM DMA uses ASP.NET to connect to the Operations Manager for Windows server. If you install the .NET framework on a system that already has IIS installed, IIS is automatically configured to handle ASP.NET requests.
However, if you install IIS after the .NET framework, you must manually register ASP.NET with IIS by executing the following command in a Command Prompt window:
%SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i
After installation, the HPOM DMA console cannot be opened in a web browser. The Tomcat log file in
<DataDir>/log/tomcat/ovtomcatb.out indicates that there is a port conflict on port 8081.
Complete one of the following options:
There may be another program that is occupying this port. Change the others application's port and restart Tomcat by running the commands:
ovc -stop ovtomcatBovc -startChange the port of the HPOM DMA Tomcat:
cscript <InstallDir>\nonOV\tomcat\b\bin\OvTomcatBCtrl.vbs -sethttpport <New Port Number>
ovc -stop ovtomcatBovc -startAn in-place upgrade from HPOM for Windows 8.00 with HPOM DMA 8.00 rolls back.
SolutionBefore you start the in-place upgrade, open a command prompt, and type the following commands:
ovc -kill
ovcreg -del dmasync
ovcreg -del dmamsg
ovc -start
You can then start the in-place upgrade to HPOM for Windows 8.10 followed by the in-place upgrade to HPOM DMA 8.10.
If you receive an error similar to that in the following example during service synchronization, it is possible that you have specified a user in the Connection page of the HPOM DMA console that has insufficient rights on the HPOM for Windows management server:
SOAP Fault: The service cannot comply with the request due to internal processing errors: Access is denied.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 E_ACCESSDENIED))
Check the HP-OVE-Administrators group on the system where the HPOM for Windows management server is installed to find out which users are HPOM for Windows administrators:
My Computer → Manage → Local Users and Groups → Groups → HP-OVE-ADMINS → Properties
Use one of these user to synchronize HPOM for Windows using HPOM DMA. This user must be specified in the Connection page of the HPOM DMA console.
NOTE: In HPOM for Windows version 8.10, the local administrator account is no longer automatically added to the HP-OVE-Administrators group.
This affects Windows installations only.
When trying to stop OV Tomcat using the Service Control Panel applet, the service cannot be stopped as ovc restarts it automatically. SolutionStop OV Tomcat using the command:
ovc -stop ovtomcatB
BAC and UCMDB, versions 7.00 and 7.50 cannot store multibyte characters in the UCMDB database. Synchronization of localized data is not currently supported.
SolutionThis is a limitation that is currently being addressed. Support of synchronization of localized data will be available in an update of BAC and UCMDB.
