View the database details

To view the database information including the availability, CPU, and memory usage of the database:

1. In the Administration Console, click Internal Monitoring > Database Monitoring.
   The Database Monitoring page opens.
2. Under Database Information, view:
   

Field	Description
Status	Connection status of the SHR database: indicates that the connection to the database has been successfully established. The database is up and running. indicates that there is no connection to the database. The database is down.
Host Name	Name or IP address of the SHR database server.
Port	Port number to query the database. The default port is 21424.
Version	Version number of the database.
Database type	Type of the SHR database.
Platform Detail	Operating system installed on the platform that is hosting the SHR database.
Multiplexed	Multiplexing capability of the database is enabled or not.
Database Size	Total size of the database main store in megabytes.
Page Size	Amount of memory allocated for storing database entries.
Last Backup Time	Time at which the database instance was last backed up.
Last Full Backup Time	Time when a full backup was performed on the database.
Last Started	Time at which the database service was last started.
Last DB Polled	Time at which the database was last polled.

3. Under Database Availability, view the availability of the database:

Database Availability	The amount of time the database was available in the: Last 7 days Last 1 day Legend description: indicates the amount of time, in hours, the database was available. indicates the time, in hours, the database was not available.

4. Under DBSpace Usage, view the dbspace usage information:

DBSpace Usage

Graphical representation of the database space, in megabytes: IQ_System_Main: The IQ_System_Main dbspace is created at database creation. IQ_SYSTEM_MAIN is a special dbspace that contains structures necessary for the database to open such as the IQ checkpoint log, IQ rollforward/rollback data for each committed transaction and each active checkpointed transaction, the incremental backup metadata, and database space and identity metadata. IQ_SYSTEM_MAIN is always online when the database is open. IQ_System_Temp: The IQ_System_Temp is a single dbspace for the IQ temporary store created when you create a database. It stores the temporary database files. PMDB_User_Main: This is the user main dbspace that is used for storing user-defined tables, indexes, and table metadata that is specific to SHR data. Legend description: indicates reserved space, which is used for storing certain small but critical data structures used during release savepoint, commit, and checkpoint operations. indicates used space, which is used for storing the main user tables and indexes. indicates free space, which is the space available for use.

5. Under DBSpace Usage, click a specific histogram, which represents the IQ System Main Store, IQ System Temp Store, and the main user database.
   The DBSpace Fill Details box opens.
6. Select Last 1 Day or Last 7 Day to view the graphical representation of the amount of database space, in megabytes, used by the selected store over a period of time.
7. Under Current Activities, view the current activities of the database:
   
   

Field	Description
Connection (Used/Max)	Number of active user connections to the database and the maximum number of connections the database can handle.
(%) CPU Utilization	Percentage of CPU time that is being used by all the activities in the database.
Open Transaction	Number of transactions that are currently running in the database.
Active Txn Versions	The number of active write transactions and the amount of data they created and destroyed.
Other Versions	Other database versions and the total space consumed.
Active Requests	Number of server threads currently handling a request.
IQ Threads (Used/Free)	Number of threads that are allocated to process queries and data loads and the number of threads that are not in use.

8. Click the following icons on the Current Activities header to start or stop the current activity polling of the database:
   • Click the icon to start current activity polling.
   • Click the icon to stop current activity polling.
9. Under IQ Physical Memory Trend, view the physical memory usage trend:

IQ Physical Memory Trend	Graphical representation of the physical memory usage of the Sybase IQ server, in megabytes, for the last one day. indicates the current physical memory usage trend. indicates the maximum physical memory usage trend.
