HP Mobile Center: Known issues & limitations

Installation

When installing HP Mobile Center 1.50 as upgrade on top of an existing installation, a message "You are using a beta or unofficial version of HP Mobile Center" is displayed. Ignore the message, and enter y to continue.

Multi-Language support

HP Mobile Center server does not support non-English OS servers.

Uploading apps

The maximum file size that you can upload is 200MB.

Mobile web

Cross-platform scripts. You can record tests on one platform (iOS or Android) and replay on another. However, once the parameters are set and the app is played on a different platform, you can't return to the original platform to continue recording the script.

Remote access

• For the remote access display to have the same orientation as the device, the initial orientation of the device must be set to portrait when starting a recording session.
• Android. The remote access display does not support apps using the Android FLAG_SECURE window flag. For details, see WindowManager.LayoutParams.html. To use such apps with HP Mobile Center you need to remove the flag. For details, see Manually package your android app.
• iPhone 6 and 6+. When display resolution on the device is set to zoom, the remote access window does not display.
• When connecting to Mobile Center over a proxy, remote recording is not supported:
  Record your test on a physical device. Note that the Back button is not supported when recording on a physical device. A manual back step should be added to the script.

Record and Replay

• iFrame is not yet supported. If you find that objects are not recognized properly, consider using insight or analog recording mode.
• Crosswalk and Mono (sponsored by Xamarin) frameworks are not supported.
• In some cases when a device that is turned off is connected to the server, when it is turned on and used for recording, it may become unavailable after recording begins.

Android:

• When recording, the Recent Apps button in the Mobile Center remote access display behaves like the Home button, and brings the device to the Home screen. When the test is replayed, Recent Apps functions correctly.
• The Back, Home and Recent Apps buttons in the Mobile Center remote access display can't be recorded in analog mode. Change orientation can't be recorded in both analog and non-analog mode. This action should be added manually to the script.

• Android adb cannot install VMLiteRDPserver.apk due to INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error may occur after extensive use of a device with HP Mobile Center. To resolve the issue, restart the device.

iOS:

• When trying to install an app requiring a more recent OS version than the version running on the device, the remote access screen displays "installing app" and the process hangs.

• iOS v 8.4.1 and 9.0 devices are supported by HP Mobile Center only if the HP4M agent and launcher apps are re-signed with a developer certificate. For details, see Connect iOS mobile devices.

• Apps designed for iPhones are not supported by HP Mobile Center when running in compatible mode on an iPad.
• iPhone 6. An offset results when recording apps with non i-Phone 6 resolution in landscape mode.
