Question

How does SecureLogin support disconnected and/or mobile users?

Resolution

Answer

By default, SecureLogin Single Sign-on data such as applications that are enabled, application credentials, and preferences, are encrypted and stored both in the corporate Directory, and in an offline cache on the workstation’s hard disk or smart card.

Whilst it is optional and can be changed using the relevant preferences, the offline cache provides users with local access to SecureLogin data and is especially useful if the network is not available (for example, if a user is using a laptop offline or there are major server/network problems). Of course, the application must be available offline for Single Sign-on to operate.

The cache is synchronized with the Directory when SecureLogin starts. After it has loaded, SecureLogin uses checksums to compare and synchronize only Single Sign-on data that has changed. SecureLogin synchronizes data as determined by the cache refresh interval (by default every 5 minutes) and/or when data changes.
