Situation

Issue

User running Windows 2000 switched to AES encryption of SSO credentials (administrator set “Use AES for SSO data encryption†to “Yes†using SecureLogin preferences).

However, when they start SecureLogin on the workstation, the following error appears;

The encryption type selected is not supported on this platform. Please contact your system administrator.

Resolution

Cause

AES encryption of SSO data is only supported on Windows XP or later. The Microsoft CryptoAPI’s that come with earlier versions of Windows do not support AES encryption.

Solution

Set “Use AES for SSO data encryption†to “No†or upgrade the workstation to Windows XP or later. In this case, since the organization has a mix of workstations and the user may move between workstations using different versions of Windows, the customer set the preference to No.

With AES set to No, 3DES encryption is used. 3DES is supported on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
