Environment

SecureLogin SSO
Installed in AD Mode

Situation

When logging in to the network using a username and password, the following message appears:

SecureLogin was unable to access the smart card. Please check that the smart card is in the reader.

Upon clicking OK, NSL does not load.

SecureLogin can be configured to store SSO credentials on the smart card. Also it's possible to set to use PKI credentials for encryption and the Lost Card scenario to Require Smart Card and not setting a user passphrase.

This configuration means SecureLogin requires the smart card before it will load.

Resolution

Insert the smart card in the reader and restart NSL.

In this case, NSL is working as designed. For security reasons, SSO has the ability to ensure the smart card being present.

The error could also occur if there is a problem with the smart card, the smart card reader, or drivers.
