Situation

Issue

Customer is SSO enabling IBM Personal Communications. They configured it using the Terminal Launcher module. They also created an SSO terminal emulator application definition. When they run the application definition via Terminal Launcher everything runs perfectly.

The customer wants to create a shortcut on the desktop so users don’t have to worry about how to use terminal launcher etc. With the icon on the desktop, the user simply runs the application and it is automatically SSO enabled.

To assist SSO administrators to create the appropriate shortcut, a Create Shortcut button has been added to SecureLogin version 3.5. The customer has selected IBM Personal Communications in the ""Emulator"" list and the script appears under the ""Available Applications"" in Terminal Launcher.

When they click Create Shortcut, an error ""Please select an application"" appears.

Resolution

Cause

You must ensure the application definition you wish to run with the emulator appears in the ""Login to:"" list (and not the ""Available Applications"" list) for the desktop shortcut to be created.

Solution

The customer started Terminal Launcher and highlighted the script in the ""Available Applications"" list. They then clicked the Add button so it appeared in the ""Login to:"" list. When they clicked Create Shortcut, they were then presented with all the options and created the desktop shortcut successfully.
