Situation

User wanted to view the Active Directory Schema using MMC (standard Microsoft Management Console used on Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 etc.) to verify the SecureLogin attributes have been successfully added to the Directory schema.

However, they were unable to do so. They clicked Start>Run and typed MMC. They then tried to add the snapin but it isn’t in the list of available snapins.

Resolution

Root Cause

The Active Directory Schema snapin is not listed by default.

Solution

Install all of the Windows Administrative Tools before you can add and use the Active Directory Schema snapin.

Navigate to Add/Remove programs and add all of the Administrative Tools and the snapin will then be available.

Alternatively, use the ADSIEDIT tool to view the schema extensions against a user object.
