X2P 64 bit conversions may fail at "configuring operating system" when a Qlogic card is used on the target

Environment

Physical 64-bit target system used for Windows conversion jobs.

Situation

This article discusses an issue which may occur when performing an X2P conversion to a 64 bit target system that contains a QLogic based HBA. The job may complete however the Qlogic card may have an exclamation point in device manager.

When performing an X2P conversion that involves a target system which contains a Qlogic HBA card the conversion will complete however the “Qogic FC HBA STOR miniport 2300” driver does not start and an error may occur on the target system during boot.

This issue is due to a known Microsoft issue with these cards.

Resolution

Install the Microsoft hotfix KB 932755/939315 after logging into the target system for the first time.
