Situation
This article discusses the error below when attempting to discover an ESX server using Portability Suite.
Unable to connect to VMware Virtual Infrastructure web-services on port 443 at <ESX SERVER>
Failed to connect to ESX server at https://192.168.210.16:443/sdk
The remote server returned an error: (502) Bad Gateway.
Resolution
The above error will typically occur if internet connection on the machine where PlateSpin Server is installed is configured to use a misconfigured proxy server.
The workaround is to configure internet options on the machine where PlateSpin is installed to not use proxy when connecting to the ESX3 address. Configuration of internet options is done via control panel or through Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings.
