Environment

PlateSpin Forge v1.0 and higher

Situation

This article describes an issue that will occur if a Forge virtual host (ESX) IP information has been changed after the appliance has been protecting workloads.

If the Forge virtual host (ESX) IP information is changed by a user, all jobs (any type, including prepare replication, incrementals or full replications) will go into a recoverable error state and the job report will display the error “Unable to connect to VMware Virtual Infrastructure Web-Service at https://x.x.x.x/sdk [see figure below]

Resolution

To resolve this issue the following tasks will need to be performed:
  1. Abort the job by clicking on Tasks and selecting Abort | Execute
  2. Update the Forge ESX information as per TID 7921034, which involves removing existing workloads from Forge, adding them again, and re-protecting each
