Discovery of a Windows system fails with "Unable to connect to windows server"

Overview

During a discovery of a windows based system via IP, the job fails with the error:

The above error "Unable to connect to windows server, please check the address of the selected operating system" will typically occur if the host entry in the DNS infrastructure for the server being discovered is incorrect. The hostname should reflect the correct server.

nslookup xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

or

ping -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

(where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the system in question)
