Job fails at "Creating Virtual Machine on ESX Server"

When performing an image conversion to a VMware ESX Server/VMware Infrastructure 3 server, the job fails at the "Creating Virtual machine on ESX Server" step:

This error will occur if the target virtual machine .vmx file (specified in the Job Configuration) already exists on the VMware ESX Server/VMware Infrastructure 3 server (i.e. a file with the same name already exists).

To resolve the issue, users can do one of the following:

1. Rename or move the existing .vmx file to a different location and re-run the conversion  OR
2. Re-run the conversion specifying a different name for the .vmx file or different path location
