Environment

PlateSpin Recon

Situation

When attempting to install PowerRecon 3.0 (or higher), the following error appears:

User 'PowerRecon' could not be created. The user account already exists!

Resolution

The above error is likely to appear if PowerRecon 3.x was previously installed using PostgreSQL Server.  During the PostgreSQL installation step, a Windows user account named PowerReconwill be created on the machine during the PostgreSQL installation step - however this account is not removed during uninstall and as a result the above error will appear if a user is trying to re-install PowerRecon.

In order to resolve the error and complete installation, users are required to remove the previously created PowerRecon user account from "Local Users and Groups" in the Windows User Manager.
