Environment

PlateSpin Migrate 9 .x, 11.x. 12.x

PlateSpin Protect 10.x, 11.x

Situation

This article describes the steps needed to release control of the source machine in a failed conversion.

Resolution

The common scenario for this is that a conversion job has failed, the source machine is still booted into the Take Control image and is located in a remote location.  To release control of the source machine remotely and boot it back into its native Operation System, please take the steps below:

1. Abort the job if it is in a 'Recoverable Error' state
2. Run the following utility:
    C:\Program Files\PlateSpin Portability Suite Server\bin\PlateSpinBrowser.exe
3. Click 'Go'
4. Expand Networks > Default > Machines
5. Locate the source machine you need back in operation
6. Right click on in and select 'Release Control'

A job will be spawned in the Client releasing the source machine.  It can be monitored while it cleans up the source machine and boots it back into the native OS.
