Environment

PlateSpin Migrate
PlateSpin Protect

Situation

When attempting to discover/undiscover/delete/provide credentials for a conversion for a Linux server or VMware ESX/Infrastructure target virtual host, the following error is displayed:

Unable to connect to the SSH server running on [MACHINE].  Please check the address and the selected operating system.

The above error typically means that PowerConvert was not able to connect to the Linux server or VMware target virtual host.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, please verify the following:
  1. The correct IP address/Hostname was specified
  2. SSHD is enabled on the server
  3. The correct SSH port was specified (if using a non standard SSH port other than port 22).  For example if the SSH port configured on the server is 222, the correct syntax would be:

    mylinuxserver:222
