Environment

PlateSpin Migrate
PlateSpin Protect

Situation

When selecting "Shutdown" as a Post Conversion Action for a Windows NT 4.0/Windows 2000 source machine, the machine proceeds with the Shutdown process but does not completely power off.

PlateSpin uses a remote shutdown API when "Shutdown" is selected as a Post Conversion Action or end state for a conversion job.  The Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 implementation of this remote shutdown API will result in the source machine not being powered off.

Resolution

As a result, the user will need to manually power off the Windows NT 4.0/Windows 2000 source machine.

NOTE:  This issue does not apply to Windows XP Professional machines and Windows 2003 source servers.
